Hello!
We are Melanie and Florent, two multi-passionate travelers from Normandy, France. We love all kinds of outdoor activities: hiking, surfing, yoga, meditation, and even gardening. We’re also huge animal lovers! I studied Italian language, culture, and civilization, followed by a master’s in tourism, while Florent studied business. We come from the hospitality world, with experience in the restaurant and hotel industries. I’ve also taught French in Italy for a year, and Florent worked in the nuclear sector.

We’re always exploring new things—whether it’s festivals, camping (especially in our van), or Florent’s love for fishing and my passion for reading, drawing and photography. Florent plays piano, and we both enjoy singing together. We’ve traveled far and wide, and we love learning new languages and experiencing different cultures.

We recently decided to leave our jobs—me as a manager in a retirement home, and Florent in the nuclear industry—because we needed a reset. We packed up, left behind our home, family, and friends, and are now on a journey of rediscovery.

We’re vegetarians (I’ve been one for 10 years, and Florent joined me when we met!), and we’re always excited to try new cuisines. If you’re into travel videos, I highly recommend French YouTuber Bruno Maltor—he’s amazing!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We’re on Couchsurfing because arriving in a new country with a different culture can be challenging, and it's always so valuable to meet kind people who are willing to help us integrate into their local way of life. We believe Couchsurfing is a great way to connect with welcoming individuals, learn about the culture firsthand, and feel like part of the community while traveling. It's the best way to make authentic connections and create memorable experiences!
