About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To create the ultimate cookie...oh and also teach children a love of art and its relationship to all things.

ABOUT ME

I am an art teacher who is interested in project based and alternative education. I have an undergrad degree in fibers and recently got a masters from the University of Illinois where I did research on the potential links between forest schooling and art education.

I am also greatly interested in food and toss around the idea of operating a small hobby farm someday.

I think being barefoot is essential to enjoying life.

I firmly believe that tea is the ultimate cure-all and that dancing is good for your soul.

PHILOSOPHY

There are things you do because they feel right and they may make no sense and they may make no money and it may be the real reason we are here to love each other and to eat each others cooking and say it was good

Music, Movies, and Books

James Taylor's Mud Slide Slim record is a key to survival.
I like Paul Simon better than Simon and Garfunkel...I know, I know, Simon and Garfunkel together are musical geniuses...but the solo Paul Simon is just more fun. Plus you add Ladysmith Black Mambazo to the mix and there is just no contest.

The Prophet - Kahlil Gibran,
The Picture of Dorian Gray - Oscar Wilde,
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close - Jonathan Safran Foer,
How to be a Woman - Caitlin Moran,
And anything by Dave Eggers - especially on audiobook.

I have recently rediscovered a love for the movie Notting Hill and often watch Big Fish when I can't decide what I am in the mood for.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There are amazing things large and small everyday. A kindergartener reading for the first time. The vastness of Petra, Jordan. The mind blowing salt content of the Dead Sea. The resilience of the Haitian spirit. The awesome generosity of a small town in my time of need. The list goes on...

Teach, Learn, Share

I am decent at knitting and crocheting and would love to help you brush up. Also if you need some art lesson plans...I'm loaded.
