About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Looking for one-perhaps you can help?
ABOUT ME
Couple an intense curiosity about other cultures with a passion for travel, add irreverence for convention to tenacity, humor, a love of people, irrepressible charm, or so I would like to think, and you'll come out with a close approximation to me! I'm at home in a crowded room, reading a book at a coffee shop or alone in the middle of nowhere.
I'm willing to try anything once, within reason, and there is always a working definition in progress on that one. Although I'm often indicted as being the one who encourages unorthodox behaviors, I can also be the voice of reason when need be, but how much fun is that?...
PHILOSOPHY
"You can get by on charm for about 15 minutes. After that, you had better know something."
"Get knocked down three times-stand up four."
"Why do I have to get married? I've done nothing wrong!"
"It's never to late to be what you might have been. Believe."
"What contemptible scoundrel stole the cork to my lunch?!"
Above all: Tutto accade per una ragione.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I surf, I host and I've grown a reputation for my "dive bar" tours of Tucson.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
CouchSurfing saved my life, quite literally! Funny story, you should hear it sometime soon.
Interests
Soccer was my first love, dance is my second and current. I've been teaching and performing for the better part of two decades and I'm always amazed at how much I've learned just through movement.
I absolutely love travel, on a primal level. I've sat in numerous classrooms and studied under some amazing professors, but the best education I ever received was from backpacking across the globe. I always tell my students that the best way to learn about the world is to get out and see it.
The only thing I'm truly fanatical about is all things futbol!

Music, Movies, and Books
My all time favorite book is "One Hundred Years of Solitude" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. "My Year of Meats" by Ruth Ozeki comes in at number two. Music: Immogen Heap, Moloko, Zero 7, Gotan Project, 80's pop music, Zepplin, 90's hip hop and R&B and Motown. Movies: I love black comedies e.g. "Shawn of the Dead" and "Drop Dead Gorgeous." I enjoy watching foreign films-really the only genre of films I don't like are over-the-top action movies and horror films. Barring those, I'm the type of girl who will rent "The Red Violin" and "Animal House" in the same night if that give any indication towards my cinematic preferences!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of my favorite life experiencs was when my wallet was stolen while I was living in Tel-Aviv and in order to make money to survive I worked illegally and took a job as a delivery girl/waitress in a restaurant during the day and worked on a construction crew at night. It took me a few weeks to realize that I was living and working in the heart of the Russian brothel district and the 'massage parlors' I was delivering lunches to were offering a lot more then a backrubs. Very funny story as to how I came about that important bit of information!
Also, camping on the Jordan River and watching the sunrise coming over Mt. Massada is the most awe inspiring things I've ever witnessed.
