I’m Melih.

I was born in Istanbul and have been living here for many years.

I work professionally in digital marketing, managing companies’ digital presence and online advertising.

I share my life with my two cats. The male is named Arthur Morgan (from the game Red Dead Redemption), and the female is called Güzel Kızım, which means “my beautiful girl” in English.

A little about myself, I love listening to people, learning about different perspectives, and having meaningful conversations. I’d describe myself as open-minded and someone who enjoys sharing experiences.

I enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, mountaineering, and other open-air sports. They really energize me. I also love cooking, and I have a special passion for pizza. In my free time, I enjoy exploring Neapolitan pizza spots around Istanbul.

Although I’m not a big fan of watching football on TV, I love the stadium atmosphere. I often go to matches and I’m a devoted Galatasaray fan. My passion is so strong that I even got the team’s tattoo! ^^

Computer games are also a part of my life. I’ve been playing Dota 2 for many years and consider myself a skilled support player. For me, gaming is not just entertainment, it also develops strategy, teamwork, and patience.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’ve realized that the less you spend on accommodation, the more you can truly enjoy the city itself. That’s why I try to help travelers as much as I can.

My biggest intention with Couchsurfing is to create meaningful connections and positively impact the lives of the people I meet.

Nothing would make me happier than helping you fall in love with Turkey. ^^

Interests

I enjoy a variety of activities that keep me curious and energized. I love being outdoors hiking, mountaineering, and exploring nature are some of my favorite ways to spend time.

Cooking is another passion of mine, and I especially enjoy experimenting with different dishes and discovering new flavors. Pizza, in particular, holds a special place in my heart, and I like visiting Neapolitan pizza spots around Istanbul.

I’m also a devoted football fan though I don’t watch many matches on TV, I love the stadium atmosphere and proudly support Galatasaray. I even have a tattoo to show my dedication!

In my free time, I enjoy gaming, particularly Dota 2, where I’ve been playing for years as a support player. It’s not just a hobby; it helps me think strategically and work as part of a team.

I also love movies and books. Some of my favorite films include The Martian, The Intern, The Bourne Identity, and Forrest Gump, while I enjoy authors like Andy Weir and Dawn Brown. Music is something I enjoy too, even though I’m not an expert I simply listen to whatever sounds good to me.

Overall, I’m curious, open-minded, and love learning from different perspectives whether through conversations, experiences, or sharing passions with others.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love listening to music, even though I’m far from an expert and don’t really follow trends. I just enjoy whatever sounds good to my ears.

I’m passionate about movies and often rewatch films that inspire or entertain me.

Some of my favorites include The Martian, The Intern, The Bourne Identity, and Forrest Gump. I admire actors like Tom Hanks, Matt Damon and Anne Hathaway.

On the other hand, I don't like Netflix. I feel it has lowered the overall quality of films and series.

When it comes to books, I enjoy authors like Andy Weir and Dawn Brown. The last book I read was Project Hail Mary, which I found really engaging and thought-provoking.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Without any mountaineering training and never having climbed a mountain before, I managed to summit Mount Ağrı (Mount Ararat). Looking back, it was both crazy and a little reckless but also an unforgettable adventure! ^^
