My passion, maybe obsession is for creative expression. I make and exhibit craft-based art with strong environmental themes. I also love to write, mostly in my blog these days, but I also write and publish poetry. Have a flick through my blog Bibliophilia: www.meliors.net

PHILOSOPHY

My life is rapidly, purposefully evolving towards more beauty, more love, and more joy. I believe I can have all my dreams come true as long as I am willing to trade off the non-priorities.And by doing so, I contribute to healing the planet and society. So I work part time to make art full time. I bicycle everywhere in all weather instead of running a car. I live my artist's life wholeheartedly, but enjoy my paid-job as well.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm a homebody who travels reluctantly. When I do, I'd rather stay in a real home, meeting interesting people and contributing to domestic life. Right now my own home is in my tiny artist's studio where there is barely room for me to sleep, let alone anyone else.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

This morning I dreamt that I hosted couch surfers who were visiting from their space-station/ low-orbit-satellite homes. They invited me to come and visit them in return and I decided I would, waking with the most thrilling sense of anything is possible, and that the most outrageous of my dreams can be really be fulfilled in this lifetime.

Interests

I am fascinated by this cusp of amazing social transformation we are experiencing. I love books and the written word, both as a consumer and a producer. Making things with my hands especially out of recycled textiles.

Music, Movies, and Books

As a reader I am drawn to the more hopeful speculative fiction authors who are looking forward from this moment of rapid change and offering ideas about the future that help me make sense of the present (Geoff Ryman, Kim Stanley Robinson, Ken McDonald, Charles Stross etc). I don't have a tv, though I watch uplifting or funny shows online. I have diverse musical taste, lately tending towards ukulele cover bands.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived in a treehouse in the rainforest, with cassowaries, frogs, snakes and big spiders.
