Hello, my name is Melissa and I am 23 years old. In the past five years, I have operated a $25 million dollar roller coaster called Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point Amusement Park in Ohio, taught English in Russia, backpacked in Turkey, worked at Yellowstone and Mount Rainier National Parks, flew across the world as a flight attendant with United Airlines, and volunteered with AmeriCorps NCCC doing conservation work in California and Texas. My next move is to Los Angeles to pursue my own business. I'm very friendly and love getting to meet new people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am moving to Los Angeles for work and need somewhere to stay as I look for an apartment to rent. With being a young professional, I am independent, clean, respectful to everybody - no exceptions, and will not overstay my visit.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite music is Classic Rock (60s and 70s), Folk Rock, Alternative (Ex. Mumford and Sons, Florence + the Machine, The Lumineers), Country, and Indie. But I enjoy listening to pretty much anything from any decade. I read tons of books about new age, spirituality, and manifesting. Harry Potter is fun too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While doing a disaster relief assignment in Southeastern Texas for Hurricane Harvey, I've slept on a cot in a small community center within close quarters of seventy other people for six weeks. No plumbing, running water, or AC. Just tons of bugs, snakes, and snoring.
