About Me
Hello! My name is Melissa from the Netherlands and I am 34 years old. I am vegetarian and I love animals! In my professional life I am laboratory technician and work in hospital at the pathology department. I live in Amsterdam and have my own room in a shared house. In my free time I like doing sports at the gym, go out for a walk, practice yoga, listing to music/ podcast, go to festivals and dance a lot. I also like reading, going to musea and learning about different subjects. I am interested in a sustainable way of life and would like to learn about it.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like to travel and Couchsurfing is a great opportunity to travel and meet new people. I like the idea of meeting locals and see the country through their eyes. It’s beautiful way to share your stories and experience with people from other countries and cultures. It will give me the opportunity to learn more about other cultures, get another view of life and make new friends.

Music, Movies, and Books
My taste of music is very widespread. If I go to festivals, I like hardstyle, hardcore and hard techno music. This hard electronic music gives me the change to express myself, feeling of freedom and happiness. I also like; rock, reggae, music of the 70’s 80’s and 90’s and many more. Music is very important for me. It always helps me out in different situations; from happiness to sadness. There will no day past without music.
I love reading books! Especially books where I can learn something from, like personal growth and real-life stories. Here a view examples of books I read:
- Je ongekende vermogens- Tony Robbins
- Human Design- Guido Wernink
- Big panda and tiny dragon- James Norbury
- The things you only can see when you slow down- Heamin Sunim
- The Amazing Story of the Man Who Cycled from India to Europe for Love- Per J. Andersson
I like to watch documentaries, serries and real-life movies. Some examples are:
- The biggest little farm
- Cowspiracy
- Planet Earth
- Down to Earth
- Floortje naar het einde van de wereld
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Volunteers work is a way to do something meaningful. It's a beautiful way to give something back and learn new skills, get to know a culture, meet new people and make friends. I have done volunteer work three times, for each a couple of months. This is something I will never forget. I worked with pinguins in South Africa, I worked with see turtles in Sri Lanka and I worked at a permaculture farm stay in Costa Rica. Those experience changed my life and I am very grateful for this.
Teach, Learn, Share
What I would like to learn more about is; sustainability lifestyle, tiny houses, permaculture, living in communities, nature and plant medicine, holistic way of life, ayurvedic, astrology and other subjects about awareness and meditation.
What I could share with you is my stories and experience during my life. I have done a lot of person growth and like to talk about it. My other passion is doing sports and live a healthy lifestyle. I like to share exercise, hiking/ walking and give you healthy recipes to cook a veggie meal.
What I Can Share with Hosts
When you visit the Netherlands, I can show you around and in historical cities, visit musea, walk through nature and having a nice meal one of my favorite places. I like to share my stories and experience. I like to learn more about other people and cultures, so I am always in for a good conversation. I like to cook a share my veggie healthy meal with you.
