Hi Couchsurfers,

My name is Melissa! I am a 22 year old Canadian girl travelling through Australia.

I am here on a working holiday visa. In Australia I want to meet the locals, see the incredible nature and wildlife, learn to surf, and have fun! I will be heading south from Agnes water in about a weeks time. I am new to couch surfing and still trying to get the hang of it. I am very easy going and open minded. I am excited to try this form of travelling and all the new exciting experiences it will bring me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am Couchsurfing because I have met many people who have had great experiences with it. I want to meet the locals of the place I am travelling and learn about their home.
Plus the idea of couchsurfing makes me a little nervous, so I want to challenge myself to get out of my comfort zone because that is what travelling is all about.

Some of my favourites are country, hip hop, RnB, rap, classic rock.

When it comes to movies I either want to laugh or learn. Comedies like Step Brothers, Hot Rod, The Other Guys, Pineapple Express.

My favourite stand up Comedians are Dave Chapelle, Louis C.K., Daniel Tosh, Bill Burr.

I also love me a good Netflix documentary. Recently I've watched "What the Health", "Minimalism", and "Given".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I volunteered at a wildlife sanctuary in the jungle of Mondulkiri Cambodia. Here I lived amongst locals in a traditional Bunong hut and helped out with their Eco tourism initiative.

Teach, Learn, Share

One of the best parts of travelling is learning about other people and places. I am always keen to here other people's stories, their experiences, about their family, and their views.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have acquired some interesting travel stories through my journey and would love to share them.
I'm always up to play a board game, cards, pool, go for a walk, hike, or bike ride. I love sport, whether that means frisbee on a beach or shooting hoops, playing beach volleyball.
Food is such a huge part of life. I am always keen to get creative in the kitchen and learn from other people. (More of a sous chef than a head chef.)
