ABOUT ME

I am twenty years old, and I am from Washington, DC. I am a theatre artist. I have been living in Arezzo, Italy for the past two months where I study Physical Theatre, Italian, and Philosophy. Since being here, my mind as an artist and a human being has opened and expanded. I now feel that I have a much clearer idea of how I want to create change in the world that I live in. I want to share my self and learn from all different kinds of people. I want to take the amazing opportunity of being in Europe to expose myself to different cultures and learn more about the global society that I am a part of. I also love to have fun, joke, and laugh with others. If you meet me, you will learn that I have about twenty six different laughs. I am interested in creating relationships all over the world, and I am open to all people and experiences. Every day, I try to live more and more in the present moment.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Currently I am travelling through Europe; I hope to push myself out of my comfort zone by getting to know and learning from people of all different cultures. I feel that it is so easy to travel the world but see nothing at all. I hope that couchsurfing will help me really to see the world through the eyes of others. When I return to the United States this summer, I hope to host couch surfers from all over the world in my Boston apartment.

Music, Movies, and Books

Currently Listening to: A lot of Folk music like, The Tallest Man on Earth, Bon Iver, Gregory Alan Isakov, Beirut, Mumford and Sons, etc. I have always loved jazz, especially Ella Fitzgerald. I also love electronic music, like RJD2, Major Lazor, MGMT, LCD Soundsystem, Ratat, etc. Recently, I have gotten more into older bands such as The Beatles, Led Zepplin, and Crosby Stills Nash & Young. I would love to get more into Hip Hop. Right now, my favorite hip hop artist is Nas. But I also am into Kanye West, Jay-Z, Biggie, and A Tribe Called Quest. I am so down to learn more about music, and I am open to all genres.

Books: Recently, i've been reading books by Pema Chodron, a buddhist nun who studied under Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche. I am beginning to meditate daily and incorporate her buddhist teachings in my every day life. I am also really into poetry. I love Louise Gluck, Rita Dove, Emily Dickinson, Pablo Neruda, Dylan Thomas, etc.
In terms of novels I love Beloved by Toni Morrison, No One Belongs Here More than You by Miranda July, The Things They Carried, and Einstein's Dreams by Alan Lightman,

Movies: I love so many movies. To name a few: Anything by Wes Anderson, Judd Apataw, Wet Hot American Summer, Paris Je T'aime, Revolutionary Road, Milk, Pan's Labyrinth...

Teach, Learn, Share

As an artist, I would love to learn from other artists and human beings.I would love to share writing, discuss our global society, cook, learn new languages, share stories. I also am a musician and want to improve at guitar and music theory. I hope to enrich my current interests and to see the world in new ways.
