About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Finding Adventures...

ABOUT ME

I'm a really active person. I surf and play soccer. I've started play the guitar more and I really enjoy dancing (including Lindy Hop/social dancing). Very into music too!

I'm going to both UCLA and UCSD to graduate as a Lit: Writing major.

I went to 10 different countries summer 2013, and I am now saving for another one in 2015. I may also go to the World Cup in Brazil.

My plans after school include: working for a season at a National Park like Yosemite or Yellowstone and then trying out to be a Disney Princess at Disneyland. I'm hoping to get in some fun jobs before going to graduate school in education.

Currently, I'm thinking of going to graduate school in Sweden years from now, so it would be nice to become more familiar with Europe than I already am and meet more Europeans.

PHILOSOPHY

Not all who wander are lost.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I travelled throughout Northern and Eastern Europe Summer 2013. In Slovakia and Budapest I stayed with CS hosts.

Open to hosting.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

One of my CS hosts helped me find a couple of unknown, long lost relatives...couldn't have possibly done this without him and his English to Slovak language skills.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Hayao Miyasaki flims (such as Spirited Away), Stanley Kubrick films, Planet Earth, Manos the Hand of Fate and The Room (both hilariously bad), Der Himmel über Berlin (aka Wings of Desire, hate the english "translation"/renaming though)

Music: Of Monsters and Men, Kent, Raveonettes, Kings of Convenience (I see a pattern here), Dum Dum Girls, My Bloody Valentine, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, jazz, rock and folk are probably my favorite music categories. I also like tribal/world/drum-based dancing music.

Books: Deathstalker series, Sword of Truth series, Angels Knocking at the Tavern Door (Hafez), Letters to a Young Poet (Rilke), Charles Bukowski poems, Dostoyevsky (currently reading his works), The Master and the Margareta, A Short History of Nearly Everything, etc., etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One night, back when I lived in San Francisco, a guy with a cello passed by me and I asked him if he would play it. He refused. I pleaded with him, but to no avail. So I said to him, "Well, if you won't play, will you teach me?" He was totally down for that!
So that's how I learned to play the cello, from a musician on his way to play at one of my favorite music venues called the Independent, in front of a bar on Haight St. in San Francisco.
Love moments like that!

Teach, Learn, Share

I sometimes interject into conversations my nerdy history knowledge. I know how to do the Charleston (aka the most fun dance move EVER).
I can also tell you the basics of surfing (waves).
I also know how to use a manual camera.
Baking. DIY book-binding. Very basic sewing skills (like sewing buttons back on, or more recently sewing back together a totally torn lace shirt)

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Germany, Japan, Norway, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States
