About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To never stop learning!

ABOUT ME

I am Mel, from Melbourne. I am generally all over the place. I managed to stay a year at home before taking off again, which was quite a feat. I currently live in Melbourne, although manage to travel (lucky me) quite a bit. I study social science and I love it. I couldn't think of a more perfect degree for me. Who knew that people watching could be a career? I am also a barista, which we take as a pretty serious job in Melbourne. We love our coffee and I love my job. I love to read, I love to be in the sun, although I have red hair, so it can be quite dangerous. I prefer not to be cold, but a healthy dose of (mild) winter once a year won't kill me. Communal meals are my favourite, home cooked food tastes better. I am a vegetarian, but I promise my food tastes just as good (better even) than its meaty alternative. Earl Grey is my favourite tea, a splash of milk and a sprinkling of sugar. Bliss. I'm more of a tea person that a beer person and early mornings are the best time of day. I am obsessed with circus arts, and have been taking aerial silk classes for a couple of years. I'm trying to work on my handstands and tumbling, but its a slow road.

PHILOSOPHY

Love people. It's as simple as that.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted a number of vagrants in Paris and would love to host more people now that I'm back in Melbourne, but unfortunately my living situation doesn't allow it. As soon as I have space though, there will be room for everyone! I miss hosting.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have been hosted by some lovely people in all kinds of places. A lovely lady made us feel so at home in country NSW. She was so kind and I hope to replicate her style of hosting with everyone I meet. I hope to surf more, thats for sure.

Interests

Books (especially in nooks). People. Experiences. Adventures. Tea. Sun! Good Food. Lemon Tart. Circus. Social science. Philosophy.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Ah... a lot of things.

Books: Breakfast at Tiffanys, Revolutionary Road, anything by Yates actually, I just finished Barneys version and I loved it. Right now I'm obbsessed with The Omnivores Dilemma. I can't stop thinking/talking about it.

Movies: Anything by Gondry. Elf, Marie Antoinette, Fantastic Mr. Fox, or anything by Wes Anderson really. All about my mother, Broken Embraces, Woody Allen.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have seen some beautiful sights, and met so many wonderful people in my travels. It's too much to put here!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some aerial skills (trapeze, tissu) but we'd have to find a rigging... which can be hard to come by. I can teach you basic French, and how to get by in Paris. I can teach you to cook some delicious vegetarian food too.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, France, Malaysia, Poland, United States
