About Me

CURRENT MISSION

"When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace" -JimI Hendrix

ABOUT ME

I'm friendly, goofy, open minded, and an extravert when the mood hits. But sometimes I'm a wallflower, meaning I can be shy :) I like to get out of the house, dance, see live music, meet new people, play sports, explore new places--urban sprawl and nature alike. When I am home, I like to cook and ferment foods. I love learning new recipes from around the world. I love to learn about radical history, sustainability, language, gardening/farming, food, creative re-use, and much much more!

PHILOSOPHY

do what you want to--don't limit yourself to other people's or societies expectations. Be respectful. Eat kinda healthy and do stretches sometimes. Non-violence. LOVE love love

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I surf. Hopefully I'll have a delux couch one day, I'd be the hostess with the mostess for sure.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I started couch surfing this in december 2007 in Spain and Italy.
My sister, two of my closest friends and I spent 2 weeks in Italy with only one night in a hotel---AMAZING! We met great, fun, friendly people and saw the places we visited from a perspective that's sometimes hard to find... it shaped our trip.
When I was in Oaxaca Mexico for a semester I met some friends on CS. Recently i stayed with Couch Surfers in Chicago.

Music, Movies, and Books

This is another tough one for me... I've got a terrible memory for movie titles and band names. Also, my tastes are diverse and always changing. My absolute favorite singer, and dream woman, is Jill Scott. If you'd like to know more, just ask n I'll tell you my picks of the week!
I recently read A Hundred Years of Solitude, and watched Children of Men.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hm, I've seen both coasts of Costa Rica from one mountaintop. I've eaten ONE chile covered cricket and swallowed ONE brew soaked worm in Oaxaca. I talked about "Love in America" on a romantic music radio show in Mexico. I snowboarded and ate fondue at the base of the Matterhorn in Switzerland. I've been to many countries, and met and befriended lots of amazing people. Life is good.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn Portuguese, Italian, and improve my spanish.
Also, I want to learn how to play drums better and jam with musicians of all genres--and bass! Funk bass to be exact :D I want to learn West African dance, samba, capoeira, break dance, juggling, old school hip hop/funk/r&b dance moves... I want to learn self healing techniques and herbal remedies---useful skills are good: how to build a house, how to grow an urban garden, how to climb a tree and tie a sturdy knot, how to fish : )

I like to teach: songs that i know, jump rope, silly group games, card games, dance moves. I know a bit about cooking--Vegan and non-vegan.

I would like to share: photos, stories, music, recipes, cultural knowledge, awareness of big issues--ideas of how to solve them, a passion for education, a passion for community/personal expression, especially audio and visual art
