Über mich
Hi! I’m Melany, but everyone calls me Mel. I’m from Chile and currently living a digital nomad life. I’ve been in Europe for 9 months, mostly based in Ireland, where I came to study English. I work remotely as a project manager for environmental and paleontological consulting projects.
I love nature, maps, geology, and exploring new cultures. I’m curious, friendly, independent, and I enjoy good conversations and meaningful connections.
Back home, I live in the countryside near Concepción, and I’m planning to start hosting travelers once I return to Chile in August.
🌍 Travel update (July–August 2025):
I’ll be traveling through Paris, Berlín, Brussels, Naples, Rome, Pisa, Budapest, Morocco, and back to Ireland. Always open to meeting locals or fellow travelers along the way!
Let’s connect!

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin
I’m planning to travel through Europe before returning to Chile in August.
I’d love to meet people, improve my English, and discover each place from a local’s perspective. I also want to give back to the community by hosting travelers once I’m back home. I believe Couchsurfing is not just about a place to sleep, but about sharing stories, kindness, and experiences.
Musik, Filme und Bücher
I love music in general—if it’s in Spanish, I’ll sing along to every song, no doubt! 😄 But if I had to choose styles, I’d go for rock, reggae, Latin American cumbia, Spanish rock, and funk.
I prefer watching series over movies, especially if they have a historical context—I devour them! Right now, I’m traveling, so I haven’t had much time, but I’m currently watching The Last of Us.
When it comes to books, I like ones that mix facts with a bit of history. I enjoy learning while reading!
Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe
Leaving my job, my home, and my three dogs to come to Europe alone to study English.
It was one of the hardest and most transformative decisions of my life. I stepped completely out of my comfort zone, and it allowed me not only to improve my language skills, but also to rediscover myself, grow, and connect with people and cultures I never imagined.
Lehren, lernen, teilen
I can teach Spanish and geology.
I’d love to learn more English and discover different cultures.
And most of all, I enjoy sharing stories, laughs, and experiences along the way.
Was ich mit Gastgebern teilen kann
I can share good conversations, Latin American vibes, and stories from my travels and fieldwork in remote areas of Chile.
I’m happy to cook a simple Chilean dish, help with Spanish practice, or talk about fossils and ancient landscapes if you’re into geology!
I’m respectful, easygoing, and always up for sharing music, laughter, and a bit of cultural exchange.
