About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'm living in Bilbao, Spain. Teaching english until May, then onto more adventures. I'm going to Turkey in June and I will head back to Spain for Nowhere festival, in July. Beyond that I would like to discover more of Europe this summer, possibly settling in Berlin for some time. I will return to Melbourne when summer begins downunder, and not a moment earlier. My goal is to get back into a kitchen. I've found a great profession which I love and am continually improving myself. It's also a flexible lifestyle if you want it to be, allowing me to work and travel, at the same time

ABOUT ME

Born and raised in Melbourne. I studied Commerce at University, only to finish and discover that it wasn't what I was passionate about in life. I was far more interested in travelling and food. In the past 18 months I've been working as a cook in Melbourne, and discovered I really enjoy cooking for others. I'm open-minded and interested in trying new things which push my boundaries and my
comfort zone

PHILOSOPHY

happy to take on any challenge, live in the moment, and discovering as many new experiences as possible. you only live once so I figure I have to push it to the edge

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

I'm here to meet locals in places I visit, avoid tourist traps and get a real feel for the culture. I traveled a lot staying at hostels, but I feel that sometimes I haven't gotten a genuine experience of the places I have visited. I want to talk to locals and hear their stories and perspectives and to share mine

In Australia, I want to meet cool, open and concious travelers, and show them parts of my city they may not otherwise discover.

Interests

traveling - I need to travel and discover as much of the world now

I enjoy being active, I enjoy playing football, basketball and I'm happy to try my hand and any team sports. I hate "working out" as I find it boring, so I prefer playing physical sports which help me maintain my fitness at the same time. I'm a fairweather boulderer and climber. I enjoy doing yoga and practising meditation when I can remind myself to do them.

As mentioned above, I love cooking. To be honest, I don't have a cuisine that is my favourite, but I'm open to trying all. A major part of my travels is discovering local cuisines, trying to draw elements from all the cuisines I try into my form of cooking. If I had to choose one specific cuisine as my favourite (and its probably because I miss it right now) it would be Mexican street food eg. tacos, tortas, tamales.

Music, Movies & Books

favorite movies are fight club, the departed, ferriss buellers day off

shantaram, catcher in the rye, motherless brooklyn, power of the dog

Soul, funk, hip-hop and rnb, is what I mainly listen to at home.
When I'm out I prefer deep house, or funky house.

One Amazing Thing I've Done

Witnessing the actual Eclipse at Eclipse Festival in Cairns, 2012. Words cannot describe the euphoria and sense of contentedness I experience during and after the Eclipse. I will be chasing more Eclipses in the future. And the festival was such an awesome party.

Teach, Learn, Share

teach - I take great pleasure in passing on what I know to others and cooking collaboratively
learn - since learning spanish I'm always eager to pickup new languages, I've started learning Portuguese so I would love to get some practise
share - I'd love to share some beers, some stories and some good times

What I Can Share With Hosts

I can share a meal, I would love to cook for anybody who hosts me, or anyone I host

Countries I've Visited

Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, India, Italy, Laos, Malaysia, Peru, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Thailand, United States, Viet Nam
