About Me

I'm a half Estonian, half German linguist with a soft spot for obscure indigenous minority languages.

I spent most of my childhood in Germany, but have been living in Estonia for the past decade. I've also lived in Oulu, Finland, for a year, and spent half a year in Budapest, Hungary.

Surprise, surprise, I really like languages. ;) A normal day at work or an evening out with friends often includes switching between several languages and this multilingual environment has now become a part of my everyday life.

Apart from languages, I'm also into music, being out in nature, handicrafts and the arts. I also like meeting new people, especially when they share some interests with me or just have some good stories to tell. So, if you think we might have something in common, be prepared for long-lasting conversations, interesting activities or simply having a good time together. :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Apart from being into certain kinds of folk music, I'm also interested in learning how to play some "folkish" instruments myself. I wouldn't consider myself an accomplished musician, but at this point, I'm trying to learn how to play the talharpa, a four-stringed bowed lyre from Northern Europe, and also recently got my hands on an Irish flute.
You'll also find me listening to some post and prog rock as well as (atmospheric/avantgarde) black metal.

I enjoy reading and I like various genres, but I haven't gotten around to it that much lately.

I wouldn't say I'm picky when it comes to movies, but I for sure don't like stereotypical action movies or movies with a too flat humor. I like movies that make me laugh, make me think afterwards, give me the creeps, fascinate me in a way, have an absorbing story to tell or even introduce me to a new world for some few hours.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Moved to Estonia to learn the language my mother failed to teach me. Ja see isegi õnnestus.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm always up for language exchange, have an interest in handicrafts and different kinds of instruments. I also like baking - I make my own sour dough bread, for example - and am happy to share recipes.
