About Me

Hi there,

Have been home for more then a year now, and still feeling like a bit of a nomad. I like to share stories and show you some of the nice places in The Netherlands.

Just moved to Twello, a small village near Deventer. Deventer is a great city to visit if you are in The Netherlands, so you are very welcome :).

With love,
Merisse

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I want to see and learn about the world, and I will not learn it from a hotel room. And hotels are expensive, money I rather spend on doing something fun with a new friend.

Interests

So much to do, so much to see
So what's wrong with taking the back streets?
You'll never know if you don't go
You'll never shine if you don't glow

  • singing
  • dancing
  • board games
  • reading
  • sailing
  • swimming
  • ice skating
  • contact improvisation
  • tree climbing
  • talking about life
  • differences and similarities between people(s)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Children playing happily, even when their shirt has more holes than cloth and they don't know if they will eat tonight.

Teach, Learn, Share

Did you know...

...that in Swahili the word for arm and hand (both mkono) and leg and foot (both mguu) are the same? And that 'vidole' are as well fingers as toes?

...that in Kisumu (Kenya), cows, sheep, chickens and turkeys just walk along or on the road? Much easier than all those fences.

...that in South-Africa, people are insulted when you say they are having a BBQ. Its a Braai!

....that time means different things everywhere in the world? In Kenya a meeting at 11am is somewhere between 12 and 1 pm. In South Africa a meeting at 11am is somewhere between 11am and 12. And in The Netherlands a meeting at 11am is somewhere between 10:55am and 11:15am. What does it mean where you come from?

What I Can Share with Hosts
