About Me

My name is Merle and I was born and raised in the US Virgin Islands. I currently work as an independent contractor for several local businesses. I am fun and adventurous and love meeting people. I am however also a very disciplined type of person, so my definition of fun has some boundaries. I love to travel and I love people, especially meeting people from other cultures. Through language exchange programs, I have met people from across the world and have been looking for a way to be able to meet more people worldwide who are visiting my island. And recently a friend introduced me to couch surfing. I love the idea, and look forward to experiencing friendships and different cultures!!!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because it's a great way to meet new people and hopefully create new friendships. I also love to showcase my home, so I would enjoy the opportunity to host persons who are visiting.

Interests

Almost everything. Once it is positive and progressive, there's very little that I don't like to learn more about.

  • traveling
  • socializing
  • surfing
  • history
  • languages
  • language exchange

Music, Movies, and Books

Almost everything lol. I don't curse, so music heavy with profanity or demeaning lyrics is not my taste, but I love almost everything else, from indie, to EDM, to r&b, and jazz. Good music is good music. Movies, I mostly like ones with depth and great plot lines. But I also love Sci Fi for its creativity and imagination. Books, I more lean to thriller / suspense / Sci fi and how to / financial planning. But if it's good, I'll read it lol.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Not sure.... Depends on what is considered "amazing" these days. I think that my travel history is pretty amazing. But I love languages and exploring different cultures, so that's why I travel at least once a year and have learned 3 languages and working on 2 more.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm very interesting in knowledge sharing of all kinds. We all have something to offer each other that's valuable.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have a lot to offer, so trying to list what I can share with hosts is a little difficult. It's easier to deal with that through individual introduction.

Countries I’ve Visited

Montserrat, Portugal, United States, Virgin Islands, British
