About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Please note - this is a VERY temporary current mission and is not at all the reason I joined couch sufers.
FULL DISCLOSURE:
My gf and I have decided to separate for the time being, and our lease just ended in the burbs, and my housing plans fell through, so I am effectively homeless. To top it off I recently lost my job and have limited cash reserves. I have considered and looked into staying at an Airbnb, extended stay, and many other short-term housing options, including craigslist, and know that, realistically, in one week's time I will be in a position to move into something more permanent. What I am looking for is honestly just a place to crash and shower for one week until I get back the security deposit from the place I just moved out of and then move into a more permanent place. As I said, I already have leads for this. I am extremely clean and tidy and very respectful of people's space and privacy. Depending on the dynamic and what you need/want, I would be more than happy to try to make up for the hospitality by helping out with shores, giving you rides if you need them, cooking (as long as you have some realistic expectations, haha), and providing any other service that I can. I would be very accommodating to your schedule. Given my situation I will be out of the house the entire day looking for work, either pounding the pavement or at the nearest library, panera, starbucks, kinkos, or any other place that has free wifi filling out applications online. I realize that this is not usually what couchsurfing is all about (I have met people from here before during my travels to South America), and I know it's a longshot to get some help for this type of situation but I'm the kind of guy who puts all of my cards out on the table to see what happens. I'm an open book and am willing to answer any questions you may have about my situation either over the phone, via text, email, or in person in whatever environment you feel safe in. I am well aware of what I am asking for and believe me, if you even got this far in reading this, I appreciate your time. Someday soon I'll be able to pay this all forward and host other surfers.
ABOUT ME
I was born in Mexico but moved to the US when I was less than 5. I lived in Illinois through middle school but did high school in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. I then went to the University of Miami and stayed in Miami even after I dropped out in December of 2009. I toured Latin America in 2010 for 6 months and lived in South Florida until last February (2015) when I moved to the Chicago suburbs with my gf.
PHILOSOPHY
I think that it's most important to forgive and to show compassion towards everyone. It's important to let things go and find who you are without everything you have - so that you know what you actually have. I also believe in enjoying the present. I believe in passion, as long as you are able to keep your head.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I enjoy meeting people, and while I haven't ever been in a position to host as I've lived with my parents or with someone who wasn't open to the idea, I will be getting my own place shortly and will hopefully be able to host/tour and pay what I've received forward.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I used couchsurfing to meet people during my tour of latin America in 2010. As I was traveling for work then, I never needed a place to stay, but I did explore Buenos Aires with a local as well as a fellow traveler, both of whom I met on here. Both were wonderful experiences.
Interests
Not much I'm NOT interested in - but my main interests are art, film, theater (all types), health, fitness, other cultures
- arts
- books

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
This field just makes me realize how much I still have to do...
Teach, Learn, Share
If you're trying to learn Spanish, or even just curious about it, I can speak with you. If you're not a great cook, I can teach you the limited cooking I know. If you ARE a great cook, I would love to learn from you. If you just don't like to cook/don't cook, but you like the things I can cook, I can cook for us (just have realistic expectations, haha). All for teaching if I have some knowledge you want, all for learning if you're willing to share some knowledge you have, and all for sharing if I have something you want.
