About Me

Hi my name is Mhairi-Michelle and I am a 29 y.o. female from Glasgow. I'm moving to Leeds mid October to start a new job (Assistant Psychologist). I am a keen dancer and like to go out dancing/to good club nights occasionally. But I am generally quite easy going and like to do lots of different types of things that are good/interesting including going the theatre and cinema, listening to live jazz, and exploring the countryside. Im also v happy to relax and share good movies/box-sets with others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Im looking to meet people and get to know Leeds and my friend highly recommended couch surfing for these purposes :) A little bit about living with me: Iv been living successfully with other people now for the best part of 10 years, and have had my own flat (shared with others) in Glasgow for the last 5. have been told I am clean, tidy, considerate, and am generally quite laid back/easy to live with. I love to cook, especially vegan food.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite music right now is DanceHall as this is a new style of dance I am learning that I have totally fallen in love with. I generally like to listen to 90s RnB/Motown/Old school girl bands (e.g. Shirelles) Blues/Bluegrass/Country/Jazz/Electronica/good quality Dance music of various genres (my favourite place to go out in Glasgow is the Subclub).

I love Casablanca and other old movies such as Rear view Mirror. I also like more recent docudrama type films like Amy/Selma, and crime documentaries like Making a Murderer.

Some recent books I read that I enjoyed were The Girl on the Train, Gone Girl. I also like older American classic Fiction like Catcher and the Rye.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I backpacked south America and Asia stopping to teach English in China over two years.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have spent some time teaching English so I would be happy to practice English with a host.

I have also recently graduated with a first class honours degree in Psychology from Glasgow University and have worked as an Assistant Psychologist in Glasgow for the past 6 months facilitating various different types of Psychological interventions including mindfulness and Person centred listening. I would be happy to share any knowledge on the aforementioned subjects/teach mindfulness and facilitate supportive psychological discussions/provide person centred listening for a host.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am also happy to share my vegan and non vegan cooking skills/food :)
