I came from Germany to live here in Canada. I studied Mathematics (Diploma) and Computer Science (PhD) in Germany and are now doing post-doc research at the U of M.

Together with my lovely girl-friend Tanja and our two adorable (and quite old) cats we moved here to Winnipeg at Canada Day 2017.

I love playing games of all sorts, preferably in a team: Boardgames, cardgames, sports, PC-games, roleplaying games. Paying a visit to the stadium or watching a game in a sportsbar is definitely fun too.

Music is my other big hobby: I constantly browse through spotify searching for niche music that fits my taste that is not limited by any "genre"-definitions. Tanja and I also visit music-festivals and concerts to see our favourites and discover our next ones.

Warning: If you get me drinking, better be prepared to get drunk yourself; 'cause I don't drink alone :P

Movies: Not much of a movie-guy. Mainly watching that big Marvel-flicks and whatever appears on my screen in airplanes.

Books: The Harry Potters, The Night Watch cycle, The City of Dreaming Books. Besides such fantasy-stuff I like books you can learn something from.

Teach, Learn, Share

Research: Part of my work as a postdoc is to write papers and prepare presentations. For my PhD-advisor writing and presenting your results well was very important -- and I learned a lot from him with regard to that.

So, if you want to get some feedback on your writing or presentation (about whatever), I'm happy to have a look on it. I actually enjoy doing that.

Music: I love to share music -- I will almost surely ask you about what you like to listen to, because I always search for new music. On the other side, if you are on the search for something new and good to listen to, I have you covered. The chance we have some overlap in musical taste is actually quite large :)

Roleplaying: I'm an avid (pen&paper) roleplayer. If you are interested in that kind of thing, I can definitely tell you about it or play a round with you.

Boardgames: Many people don't know how much fun modern boardgames are. Forget about that dust-covered stuff like Monopoly or Risk. Those are not really boardgames, but rather "roll the dice until someone wins". Modern boardgames come in crazy variety and there are boardgames for whatever you are looking for. I personally love the games in which you cooperate with the other players and try to beat "the game" together.
