About Me

I live on the unceded traditional territories of the Snuneymuxw First Nation, in the city we call Nanaimo, in the province of British Columbia, in Canada. I am made up with Heritages tracing through Irish, German, Italian and Lebanese lineages. I live with my partner and my step-daughter in a home just outside of Downtown. I get around by bicycle most of the time. I love to plant fruit and nut trees and grow food at home and throughout the community. I belong to the Mid-Island Community Development Cooperative. We practice Permaculture by establishing food forests at schools, in parks and on vacant public land. I love my city, I love its streams and rivers, and forests and mountains and seas that surround it. I am learning how to stand up for the land, and respect it. I am a poet, an untethered dancer. I build trails in our nearby forest to

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am learning to surf, couch surfing style. I don't often get the opportunity to travel but since I have been sent to Spain to get trained in Montessori education, I figured that I would tour around a little bit. I love having visitors at my home, the people that are hitchhiking and need a place to stay. A place for many and friends to stay a while. Or the homeless person who needs some shelter for a few days. Everyone needs a roof over their heads and it shouldn't cost us a fortune.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like dance music. World Music, traditional music that gets people dancing.
I am not much of a movie watcher, and I haven't read a whole lot of books recently.

Ishmael was a good read many years ago.
I don't seem to read as much when I am in school, except the books that want me to read.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I planted about 50 trees around my house and neighborhood this year. Apple trees, persimmon, Pear, apricot, Hazelnut, Fig tree, alder trees, Chinese chestnuts.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to do improv singing and can lead individuals. I enjoy cooking. I write collaborative poetry with strangers and with friends and family.

I want to learn Dabke Dancing, Lebanese style dance.

I like learning about culture through ceremony.

I love to be in nature. I seek harmony with the soil. It is contaminated at my house with Lead and Zinc and Cadmium, so I am utilizing mushroom and native tree species to remove the heavy metals from my land. I want to bring nature into our city scapes, with all its gifts it offers humanity that teach us how to be human.

I want to engage my creativity, to expand its ways of expressing.

I know songs from all around the world. Simple Songs that I can teach you. They are part of my ways of connecting with others and sharing our voices and stories together.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I share alot. I share laughs, poetry, singing and dance. Those are all very portable. I share stories of hope and inspiration. I like to share cooking, and cleaning. I am good at giving a good back rub too!

I am learning how to be a loving being, and overcoming gender stereotypes. I am human. I am a spritual being on a human experience. I seek freedom, and I seek to resond to the needs of the planet and the people
