About Me

Hello! I am moving to Maui for an AmeriCorps job, and looking for new friends and advice on what to see while I'm there.

I just finished a term with the Northwest Youth Corps conducting conservation projects throughout Oregon. The job involved trail-building, chainsawing, and living out of a tent for 6 weeks. Soon I am leaving to work at the Coachella music festival, and staying in California in between and after. Then I am moving to Maui, HI for at least 6 months while I work with the Maui Invasive Species Committee battling the coqui frog.

I am adventurous, polite, friendly, and easygoing. While at the University of Vermont, I brought together 11 of my friends to live under one roof, so I am no stranger to communal living, cleaning, and just hanging out.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Currently I am looking for any advice on Maui living. I am still looking for a room to rent and some mode of transportation, and its been difficult to find stuff that is not targeted toward week long vacationers. When I was looking for advice on visiting Oregon, I got a lot of great information from CouchSurfers, so I am hoping the Maui crowd is just as awesome.

I used to attend and work at an overnight camp in the north woods of Minnesota, where I made a lot of new friends from around the country and globe. I have often had these friends stay in my houses during their travels, as well as stay in theirs during my travels. I loved hosting and visiting these camp friends, and I think Couchsurfing could provide a similar experience.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to it all (including metal and country), but I really love Classic Rock and Motown. Lately I've been listening to The Band, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Marvin Gaye, Bob Marley, Metallica, Van Morrison, First Aid Kit, and George Thorogood.

Lord of the Rings, This is Spinal Tap, The Jungle Book, The Last Waltz

The Old Man and the Sea, Welcome to the Monkey House, Gathering Moss

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have traveled to South Africa and Mozambique as part of an educational trip, and Peru as part of a volunteer trip. I think my next few months are going to provide me with a lot more for this section haha.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a great listener, can build a roaring camp fire, and want to learn as much about traveling to New Zealand as possible, since that is where I see myself in 5 years.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A friend to explore and try new things with, my nature knowledge, and my movie collection. I am also totally open to trading work for your hospitality. I was raised to earn my keep, so it actually would make me feel great to help you in some way.

Countries I’ve Visited
