About Me
I'm a 30-year-old Italian guy currently living in Austria. I grew up in a small town in the Dolomites (Italian Alps), surrounded by beautiful mountains, just 200 meters from the ski slopes! I spent about two-thirds of my life in that beautiful area, and I still consider it home. Fun fact: Even though it is in Italy, most people in the region speak German. But my hometown has its own old language called Ladin (not Latin!). It dates back about 2,000 years to when the Romans conquered the area, and only about 30,000 people still speak it today. So yes, I’m a Ladin speaker living in a mostly German-speaking part of Italy. This happens when history plays games :D
Of course, I haven’t stayed in one place my whole life. After high school, I lived in a few different places: Perth in Australia, Vienna in Austria, Perth in Scotland (total coincidence, apparently I’m drawn to places named Perth!), Trento in Italy, and finally Feldkirch in Austria, where I’ve been living with my girlfriend for 2 years.
I studied Energy Engineering in Vienna and Trento because I am very interested in energy production and distribution. But life took an unexpected turn: I ended up building an app to help with my engineering work, and it turned out to be very helpful for others too. I published it, and now it’s been downloaded over 4 million times! Since I really enjoyed the development, I started my own company in Feldkirch and now work full-time on developing the app.
The great part is, I can work from anywhere as long as I have a laptop and internet. Thus, my girlfriend and I have decided to start our own adventure. We packed our backpacks, gave up our flat, she quit her job, and we’ve set off on a 9-month trip together. First stop: Sri Lanka. Then Australia, Indonesia, Vietnam, and New Zealand. We are super excited for what’s ahead!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I’m on Couchsurfing because I love meeting new people and experiencing cities through a local’s eyes. I also enjoy hosting, so I can give back and help others to have the same kind of experience I could enjoy.
