Overview
About Me
I spend most of my time playing board games, poker, and pool with my friends and exploring my city. I'm always open to new experiences and meeting interesting people to hear their stories and make new ones. I'm 28 and have lived in DC for about 7 years. I work at a research nonprofit, so I spend most of my time in an office behind a desk and have recently started traveling as much as possible!
I'm mostly quiet and shy so I don't usually enjoy big parties but am always happy to meet a small number of new people and explore interesting places.
While traveling, I like to see museums, parks, nightlife, good restaurants, and cultural sites. I hike sometimes and have started indoor rock climbing. When visiting other people's homes I try to be as respectful and clean as possible!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm starting to travel more over the past few years, and couchsurfing seems like a great way to have interesting experiences and meet local people.
It seems like such a waste to use an AirBnB or hotel and be isolated while you're in a new place rather than meeting someone who's happy to show you around or at least meet up and share some experiences. Having a good story and a new connection from my traveling are why I'm going, not just to spend my spare time in an empty room.

Music, Movies, and Books
music: Mostly chill electronic, alt-R&B... A few I like most are Odesza, daft punk, tycho, XX, frank ocean, kanye, crystal castles, purity ring, SZA, washed out, nosaj thing, Justice, portishead, giraffage
movies: Honestly I like good TV shows way more than movies... Black mirror, fargo, the wire, arrested development, breaking bad, high maintenance, westworld, Game of Thrones, planet earth, rick and morty
books: A Little Life, White Noise, anything by Borges, Melville's short novels, Ray Bradbury's short stories, Raymond Carver's short stories... Mostly short stories.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hiked four days along the Inca trail to Machu Picchu. The views from the mountains were incredible, and making it over the 13,000 foot peak was exhausting but so worth it.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm of course always happy to help people improve their English reading or writing (I improve people's writing every day for work). I think I'm decent at billiards and poker and love talking about and playing either. When I host, I love showing people around and taking them to places they might not know about. While traveling, I'd appreciate any help improving with the local language!
