My name’s Michael and I’m a college student in the States. I’ve always wanted to travel, but I don’t want to do it the normal way. I’d love to not only see the attractions in a given country, but to meet the people and make friends. I am absolutely fascinated with the differences between all of us on this big, beautiful planet, and couch surfing seems like the best way to learn about them. I’m very friendly, and I love to party! I love cooking and eating new foods, perhaps to a fault. I also really love playing the guitar, and I have an old accordion in my closet I’m gonna get to practicing one day.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I really wanna travel, but I don’t like the idea of a cookie cutter vacation where I stay in a hotel with a bunch of other tourists who know nothing about the country we’re visiting. I wanna meet local people and learn about the countries and cities where I travel. Life is too short to not make the most of every day!

Unfortunately, my current living situation is not very conducive to letting people crash on my couch, but hopefully when I graduate college and have a place of my own, I can start hosting other surfers.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Studying abroad in Osnabrück, Germany for 6 weeks. These were probably some of the best 6 weeks of my life. The group I was in travelled all over Germany on the weekends and even spent a few days in Amsterdam, and when we weren’t studying, we learned all about the culture of Germany (especially the drinking culture). I’ve made a number of German friends who I hope to cherish and visit again, and I enjoyed the trip so much, that I started using Duolingo to learn German. I can’t wait to visit Germany again!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can have a nice conversation with you :) and I can do chores, like do the dishes, vacuum/clean up rooms, cook, etc. Also, if you want, I can play guitar songs for you and teach you a few techniques I know (mostly flamenco)
