About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To remember what life was like as a child, as a baby, as a feotus, further still, to remember back through human history, through earthern history, through galaxial history, to the moment when the universe was a promise in a silent seed.

ABOUT ME

Presently, my girlfriend Leah, and myself, are driving her car from Burlington, Vermont, to Mendocino County, Northern California. Our destination is an organic apple farm, a place that I have called home for a number of years.
Leah has been living in Burlington for the last seven years, she's a Minnesotan. She was a UVM student, and after graduating, she stayed for a few more years. She found her way into a little special scene: a venue, coffee shop, restaraunt, a nexus of live music, and local artists, a creative cultural current.
And it was there where we met. I played a couple of shows there when I first arrived in Burlington last summer, and I soon became another mass caught up in its gravity.
In arrived intending to leave at the end of the summer, you see. I had been doing carpentry work on a farm on Schoodic Peninsula, in Maine, through the spring, and I had bought an old camper, gutted it, remodeled it (to look like a gypsy wagon,) and was planning to travel around the states in it, making money along the way, doing puppett shows, playing music, selling prints, sculptures, books, etc...I put in a set of large swinging doors on the side of the camper and made a stage so to speak, kind of like the ice cream man's set up. I was excited, but the clutch blew on the way out of town, and the tow truck lost the camper off the back of it at the top of a hill and it crashed into a house, and I got hit with repairs and eeriely stern karma, suggesting to stay, so I stayed.
But we are leaving! Extricating ourselves from the Burlington vortex! However, I have to accomplish this procedure twice. I'm going to fly back in a couple of months, tune up the ol' Treehouse (gypsy wagonesque camper's name,) dust off the banjo, untangle the marionettes, and then attempt to leave Burlington in my creative vessel.

PHILOSOPHY

Personal philosophy? Perrenial philosophy. Solitude. Relegion? The forest is my temple. Myths are metaphors, they come from the imagination, and so give us insight into our imagination, our psyches, an understanding of our innate human potential, which seems to have become eschewed nowadays, mainly because myths are too often interpreted literally, myths indicate spectrums of experience. "Truth cannot be said, it is an experience one needs to have."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

By surfing, always a novel experience. And by hosting, once I put in roots.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have couchsurfed a couple of times. For Leah, it is a strange idea, but that is only because she hasn't participated yet. We are modern, and our world is technological, but hosting is as old as civilization, and being a guest is even older.

Interests

Music, I play the guitar, banjo, cajon, congas, didgeridoo, a little flute, I've been known to rhyme. I love sculpture, graphic arts, inner visions made tangible, wrought in wood, wire, pencil, paint. The process of creation to me is how I seem to travel as of late. I like the woods, when I can, I love living in a tipi, I've also enjoyed a season in a yurt, and several a rustic cabin, though I am bedazzled by modern design and architecture, and drawn to the evolving forms of the city scape. I have a strange fascination with corvidae: ravens, crows, jays, they seem to have a strange fascination in me. Though I may not always be apt to uphold the ideal to its fullest, I am a believer and practitioner of sustainable living and its skill sets. Growing food, fermenting, composting, closing circles and ennobling soil and human relations.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I saw the ghosts of a forgotten indigenous people dance around a fire in my dreams and in reality as I slept in a silent forest. I'm not kidding. There were four other campers with me, and when we left that campsite in the morning, we were running.
