About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Moving to Victoria from Toronto to start a new chapter of my life. I am taking the train across Canada (I try to avoid flying). Staying in Winnipeg for two nights and Jasper for 5 nights.
Long term mission: being mindful and making the world better and more sustainable place
ABOUT ME
I'm open-minded and easy to get along with, I like meeting new people and having interesting conversations. When I go to a new place, I´m not really interested in "the nightlife" but prefer walking around and exploring. I love nature and going for hikes, and meditating. I'm not religious but I practice mindfulness meditation and Thich Nhat Hanh's buddhist tradition is a big influence. I´m vegetarian (for compassionate and environmental reasons) and gluten-free non-voluntarily (I'm celiac). While travelling I sometimes give up my vegetarianism while travelling
I've lived in Sweden a year, and recently got back from 3 months in Central America, including 3 weeks bicycle touring in Cuba.
PHILOSOPHY
I don´t think there is one meaning in life; I think there are many. I think getting to know myself is an overall goal. I once heard an old person say that the most important thing in life is connecting with other people. Having new experiences, exploring the world are some others.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I´ve couchsurfed five times and have had one person stay at my place and all of the experiences have been positive. I enjoyed making a connection to people, seeing the similarities and universal values most of us share. I love how sometimes the people you meet while travelling are more influential and valuable than the places themselves. Once I get a place in Victoria, I plan on hosting.
Interests
I study History and Forestry; two completely different interests but both of which I love. I'm sort of a tree nerd. When I visit a city, I can appreciate a few hours at museums and art galleries, but I also really like exploring the city itself, getting an impression of the place. I am not a religious person, but I enjoy visiting churches as I find them really beautiful, peaceful, and full of history. In my more recent travel experiences, connecting with the people there have been just as memorable as the place itself. I find getting to know someone and their life history gives me perspective to reflect on myself.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: Never Let Me Go, Wit
After spending most of my adolescence watching one film a day, I am trying to read more...and live more!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hiked and stayed overnight on a Acatanengo volcano in Guatemala and watched another nearby volcano erupt all night; nature's fireworks!
