ABOUT ME

Hi my names Mike, I'm 29 and from the sun blessed city of Perth, Australia and have been with my girlfriend Michelle for around 7 years. We both love to travel, see new places and meet new people.

Prior to 2012 we had been taking short trips over to South East Asia and Europe. We liked traveling so much we decided to take a year off work in 2012 to travel around the world (mainly Europe, and South America). In 2014 we headed over to New Zealand for a month.

While back in Perth we started hosting couch surfers and loved showing them around our city. Now 2015 has rolled around, we both decided to take a year off and explore some more of the world and keen to see places from a locals perspective by using couch surfing!

We started in January down in Colombia and headed north through Central America. Now we are spending a little under 3 months to see as much of the states as possible! After that, we have a flight to London and will let our minds decide where to go :)

I used to host when I was living in Perth, but now looking to surf while I travel :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Had been unofficially surfing in my previous travels before I found out about Couchsurfing and these were honestly some of the best and unique times I had - staying with locals allows you to see places you probably wouldn't see if basing yourself in a hostel etc. So after hearing about this website I was keen to get on board and started hosting people when I wasn't busy with work while in my hometown of Perth. Now I have started travelling again and on the surfing bandwagon and loving it every time!

Generally anything with Leo, Damon, Marky Mark, Neeson, Depp is a win. Can watch LOTRs on a regular basis. More into the TV series thought and really like Entourage, Breaking Bad, Shield, Seinfeld, Friends, True Detective.
