About Me

Currently a student reading Sociology (and PPGA) at Nanyang Technological University (:
Eager to meet new people and garner new experiences, am big on tasting local cuisines and learning about cultures
Sports I dabble in: Running, rock climbing and calisthenics (always willing to train)

I enjoy conversations and talking to people, depending on how open you are or wish to talk about (don't wanna make people feel uncomfortable yeah) (:

Also I travel around with a bear hat named Binky. Follow him here! https://www.facebook.com/Mic.Neo/media_set?set=a.10153443784524856.1073741857.539444855&type=3&pnref=story

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

"We learn something new everyday."

In a giant nutshell: I've lived all/most of my life in Singapore, I've been told time and time again the world outside is dangerous by well-meaning but ignorant(?) people and I want to dispel that myth. And I have, and I've learnt a lot.

Used CS during a semester exchange abroad in the UK (Exeter) and met amazing people from all over Europe. Got to experience and learn about the culture and their way of life in every country, every city. It was a remarkable experience, and it still keeps going.

I strongly believe every person is interesting in their own way and we've all got something to learn from each other, as they call it 'the human element'. I still do.

Interests

Sports (rock climbing / bouldering / calisthenics / running)
Food (I live to eat, and workout so I can eat more)
Reading

Music, Movies, and Books

Not a fan of horror films (except for zombies)
Love reading horror genres (Stephen King!)

Favourite movies include Phantom of the Opera, Sweeney Todd (watch me break out in song and squawk out lyrics), Requiem for a Dream, Totoro, 28 Days/Weeks Later, Inception, Butterfly Effect

Some past reads: 1984, Angela's Ashes, Anne Frank's Diary, To Kill A Mockingbird, Carrie, Misery, The Shining, A Clockwork Orange, Thinner, Dracula, The Picture of Dorian Gray
Current read: Lolita

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ran a marathon without adequate training (was having exams the month before) –
Completed it within 6 hours and less than 15 cups of ice cold water poured on my head to stay awake

Climbed a rooftop 40 floors high – scary, but fun

10-hour walking tour of Paris with my host – feet were blistered and aching by the end of it but worth every second

Stayed with CS host's parents in Stuttgart, and then met his neighbours in Munich [before he did because (1) he just moved in, (2) they weren't around when he did and (3) I thought I locked myself out] – that was dumb, but again, fun

Did a front flip on a trampoline

Watched Coldplay perform live at Wembley Stadium for free – a very intelligent and kind stranger had a spare and I was one lucky dimwit who happened to sit opposite him, then we talked and the rest is Yellow.

Teach, Learn, Share

I study Sociology, so I know a little bit here and there (but in the grand scheme of things, very little compared to the vast amount of experiences and knowledge surrounding us)

More interested in learning about different cultures, histories, experiences from people rather than books

What I Can Share with Hosts

Conversations, information and life about Singapore (and my life, and all the dumb things I've done if you want a good laugh)

Also housework, meals and rock climbing (if you like) (:
