Music, Movies, and Books

I recently finished "Just Kids" by Patti Smith and I've been dreaming in her prose ever since. Her writing though autobiographical is imbued with so much subtle and powerful mysticism that there's a spiritual revelation amidst every story. She makes me feel!

No matter what I'm reading at any given time it's coupled with one of the diaries of Anais Nin. Anais is my blessing and literary queen. She writes honestly and unapologetically about her life in its entirety. Her eroticisms and creative process among other themes are confessed in lyrical detail. I definitely feel psychically connected to Anais.

As for music..

I lived in a music venue for awhile before leaving to travel so I had access to a live jazz improv or experimental electronic set every other night. I was pretty spoiled with music during that time. Most memorably was a weird performative electronic duet out of New York called Wetware. The femme vocalist stomped around the venue and through the crowd confrontationally, hanging the mic or herself off of different platforms muttering and yelling over heavy beats.

Recently road tripped through beach towns on the west coast here and listened to lots of Joy Division, New Order, Soda Stereo, Hope Sandoval, Slowdive, Neil Young, Broadcast and Boyharsher among others :)
