About Me

I have a degree in music, a passion for traveling, a love of animals and intellectual conversations, as well as spirituality. I am open to new experiences, and want to expand my knowledge of the world by trying something new.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am 29 years old, planning an awesome trip for my 30th birthday. This plan has been in the works for years, I've always wanted to experience the Pacific coast of our country and meet awesome, free thinkers and artists along the way that share my passion for music, art, food, craft beer, independent thought, literature, and a spirit of travel.

Interests

Music, (piano and guitar player and singer) travel, kayaking, hiking, biking, sustainably grown food, the environment, laughter, sarcasm, pug dogs, craft beer, meeting new people, volunteering, working in an ICU, psychology, and physics.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Tori Amos, Ani DiFranco, Wolf Parade, Shearwater, Kaki King, Neil Young, Radiohead, the list could go on and on.

Movies: Adaptation, Running with Scissors, Into the Wild, Sideways, Blue, Fight Club, The Royal Tennenbaums, etc.

Books: Anything by Colum McCann, Hermann Hesse, or Kurt Vonnegut (yes, it's true, he never gets old.) Also, Man's Search for Meaning by Victor Frankl

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveled to a small town in rural Greece during college to play classical piano at a music village that allowed me to expand my knowledge of chamber music, but more importantly, how inspiring life can be when we distance ourselves from technology and the modern world. My time there, and floating in the middle of the Aegean Sea, as well as the longing sounds of the guitar floating through the afternoon while the sun cut through the clouds, will never be lost on my psyche.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have taught guitar and piano lessons, I write avidly, and I have also been a student of yoga and eastern philosophy.

What I Can Share with Hosts

The "little town of Bethlehem" has much to offer, from the lights and shops during Christmastime, to the world-renowned 10 day music festival "Musikfest," adopted from our sister city in Germany. We host numerous events and performances at the former steel mill in the "Steel Stacks" pavilion, we are home to the Bach Choir at the local Moravian church, and have numerous craft beer and local indie restaurants such as Brew Works and The Mint, as well as the vegan faire at Shankara by Balaisia. We host an abundant amount of open mics for up and coming musicians, and have a thriving music scene. Also conveniently located an hour from Philadelphia, 2.5 hours from NYC, and 4 hours from Washington, DC. Personally, my boyfriend (who is a finger-style guitarist and craft beer connoisseur) and I live in a loft apartment above the city on Broad Street, we love meeting new people and trying new adventures, and we have a pull-out couch for visitors.
