About Me

I am a curious, lifelong learner currently living in the highlands of Dolega, Panama. My journey has taken me from a corporate career in engineering and data science to a life of permaculture, photography, and purposeful travel. I recently started my own "Global Pivot"—a transition focused on sustainability, community, and exploring the world with fresh eyes.

I am retired, energetic, and always ready for the next adventure. Whether I’m tending to my garden, managing my small flock of chickens, or exploring new creative projects, I value authenticity and connection above all else. I believe that people are the true highlight of any destination, and I strive to be an open-minded, respectful, and engaging guest or host.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’ve reached a point in my life where I am less interested in being a tourist and more interested in being a global citizen. I am joining Couchsurfing to bridge the gap between visiting a place and truly experiencing it.

I am preparing for an upcoming multi-month journey through Bali, Thailand, and Vietnam, and I want to meet locals and fellow travelers who are as excited about the world as I am. I’m here to share stories, learn about new cultures, and hopefully provide a home-away-from-home experience for others when I’m back in Panama. I appreciate the trust this community is built upon, and I aim to contribute positively with good conversation and a reliable, respectful presence.

Music, Movies, and Books

Reggae: Especially Bob Marley.

R&B: I'm a big fan of the legendary Phyllis Hyman.

Contemporary: I also really enjoy Adele's music.
WALL-E: A beautiful story about the future and connection.

A Beautiful Mind: I'm fascinated by stories of resilience and the human intellect.

Forrest Gump: A classic that perfectly captures the "pivots" and unexpected journeys of life.

Books
I appreciate narratives that dive deep into complex characters and global issues.

The Constant Gardener by John le Carré: I love the blend of mystery and international intrigue.

A Beautiful Mind by Sylvia Nasar: The depth of this biography is incredible.

Forrest Gump by Winston Groom: A wonderful companion to the film that offers even more perspective on a life well-lived.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

At 62, I decided to redefine my path by trading my corporate life in Atlanta—where I spent years in process engineering and data science—for a completely new life in the mountains of Dolega, Panama. I made a major international move to build a sustainable homestead from scratch. It wasn't just a change of scenery; it was a total transformation. I now manage my own organic garden, greenhouse, and a flock of chickens. Taking that leap of faith to start over in a new country taught me that I am capable of reinvention at any stage of life, and it has fueled my current passion for exploring the world, documenting my journey through photography, and connecting with new people along the way.
