About Me

Hi there! I'm new to Couchsurfing and a little intimidated, but thought it might be a fun way to meet new friends while traveling. Why not! I currently live in San Francisco, but I was born and raised in Florida. I'm always horrible at describing myself in About Me sections, so let me take a stab in another format--

•What's a fun fact about yourself?
My family's super big on hiking so that was all we ever did while I was growing up. I've been to over 25 National Parks in the States.

• Where's the coolest place you've ever slept?
Once time my brother and I spontaneously booked a "treehouse" in the middle of a Costa Rican jungle. Two long bus rides and one long hike later, we arrived in the dark only to discover our host family had gotten the dates wrong and didn't know we were coming. Despite this, we had an amazing time sleeping in the open air (nestled right among the trees with a mosquito net). We spent several days hiking, bathing in the river, enjoying meals with a local family, and waking to the sounds of howler monkeys.

• What was your least conventional vacation?
I think people usually take vacations in order to relax or explore a new place. One time, however, I was feeling pretty burned out from sitting in front of a computer all day and craved a little time off the grid. I ended up working at my best friend's summer camp in the woods of Washington for a week as a translator. It was an incredible week of campfires, flashmobs, war canoes, ropes courses, and more. Not to mention a fun challenge trying to use my subpar Chinese speaking skills & a lot of hand gestures to convey things to the foreign campers.

• Have you ever been threatened while abroad?
Once while I was in Tanzania, I was taking a photo of a mountain when a man came up to me with a machete and started yelling at me and pointing the machete mere inches away from my neck. It turns out he thought I was photographing him. I showed him the photo of a tree and he gave me one more glare before walking off machete in tow.

• What's your best trait?
My spontaneity & whim are probably what have gotten me into the majority of my adventures.

• What's your worst trait?
I overanalyze everything and I'm not terribly filtered.

• Are you an introvert or extrovert?
I'm probably best described as a social introvert. I love talking to people, but at the end of a long day I just need a little time to recollect my senses. None of my friends ever believe me when I say I'm an introvert though because I'm really outgoing.

PS-FYI if you're hosting me, I don't smoke or do drugs, I have no interest in bringing people home, and I'm not allergic to pets (or kids, ha). I'm always down to grab a drink, but I'm hardly a rager and always happy to follow the rules/flow of the household.

Ask me anything! :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Seems like a fun way to meet adventurous or open-minded people in new cities.
