I like the idea of connecting the world a little bit more through this platform.

to clarify in advance for surfers:
-this is not just free accomodation but an exchange. I give my time, my space and all I have for you. Think about how you can contribute so it is not only convenient for you but also a good experience for me. Bring some beers for god's sake or even better, host people yourself!
-I am expecting you to be communicative. I understand, it is hard if you are an introvert. I myself wouldn't mind to not talk with anyone for a week but if you are doing couchsurfing and are at mine, be sociable. It gets really exhausting when I have to lead the whole conversation and there is not coming anything from your side. Then better stay at a hotel.
-you are here to explore and experience. it is absolutely ok if you need a day to relax at mine but it get's weird if you only stay home, especially cause my place is so small. It should really only serve as the place we sleep.
-please do not complain every 5 minutes how expensive everything is here. Switzerland is expensive, I know. I am sorry. I cannot change it.

to clarify in advance for hosts:
-no, I really don't want a massage.
-no, I really prefer the couch, I don't want to share your bed, even casually.
-no, I really don't want to hear about your sexual adventures with other couchsurfers. It's not a damn dating platform and we really can cause an uncomfortable and unsafe environment if we approach surfers in this regard during a stay.

music: all time favourit is the old german song 'Die Gedanken sind frei'
otherwise a mix of old gold like Patti Smith or Tracy Chapman, of unconventional stuff like Tash Sultana or Cigarettes after Sex , of techno at the weekends, of dirty punk and honest folk. and of course all kinds of arabic music. from old style Fairouz and Umm Kulthum to new style Cairokee, Do'shouka/Luka or Mashrou Leiyla.

movies: generally I have a thing for french movies. the weirder the better. can't stand the 'romantic comedy' thing where you see 3 mins and you already know the end of the movie. Always in for the good old classics from the Godfather to Fightclub. Not a big fan of series with the exception of Bojack Horseman. Todd is my spirit animal. Last movie I watched in the cinema was 'Sirat'.

books: philosophy in general. poems. big fan of 'Göthes Faust' and Jean Paul Sartre. Currently reading Hannah Arendt's Elements and origins of totalitarianism. Since I work in science and reading is part of my work I unfortunately do not read that much anymore in my private life.
