- I am traveling at the moment, so not able to host! -

My name is Mienke Pouw. I grew up in a family of four in a small village called Nieuwland. My parents and little sister are still living in this village, but I have been living and working in a small city called Gorinchem for three years now. I got this lovely, crazy cat named Norbert to accompany me.

In my free time I love to make, or go and see art. I play the piano and sing a little, perform in a theatre group, write a poem from time to time and love to be creative. I also have this passion to organize events; from small birthday parties to big music events. I get loads of energy out of it!
And then there is of course meeting with friends or family and going out for dinner, cinema, grab a beer, go for a walk, a concert, etc.

I would say I'm a creative, outgoing and optimistic girl. My motto would be to follow your dreams and live your life happy. I keep looking for places and situations to challenge myself, to give me new experiences and make/keep me happy :)

Couchsurfing is such an amazing initiative! I'm all about doing good, sharing and meeting new people. I'm traveling around Europe at the moment (only staying with couchsurfers) and I absolutely love it!

Hm.. difficult.
There is almost no music I don't like. If it has a soul and good feel to it, I'm happy, but mostly love rock, blues, jazz, classical.
I love to watch (international) movies, and my favourite at the moment is 'Arrival' I guess..
I don't read books as often as I'd like to, but maybe traveling will stimulate me to read more!

At an age of not even one year old I traveled to the United States. With my parents ofcourse.
Last year I organised the best birthday party ever for my best friend.
I've loved.
I've predicted the birth date of my little sister.
I did two university studies at a time.
I've saved a cat from the streets, who is now my best buddy.

I can share my couch (or bed, depending on if you're staying alone or there's two of you), show you around the city, share conversations , food, beers, introduce you to friends of mine. But also just a quiet evening in my apartment. Whatever you feel up to!
