About Me

I grew up on an island in Spain, the Canary Islands. I went to a German school in Tenerife and finished my studies there. After that, I moved to Seville, where I’ve been living for the past five years. I graduated in Audiovisual Communication, and now I’m thinking about continuing my film studies somewhere in Europe.

As for my personality, people often say I transmit peace just by talking or being, like a sloth, apparently. Others call me a legit geek, probably because I have a lot of random hobbies: bonsai trees, perfumes, chess… you name it.

I’m a very curious person, so I love meeting new people, learning about different subjects, and diving into new hobbies every couple of months.

My biggest interests are art and culture. I’m deeply passionate about film theory and aesthetics, literature classics, and understanding media and other art forms like painting and architecture. I’m also fascinated by philosophy, politics, history, anthropology, and languages. I’d love to work in something related to cultural promotion in the future.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Since I moved from Tenerife, I feel like I’ve changed a lot. My time in Seville has really opened my mind. I’ve met all kinds of people, from the most conventional to the most unconventional, and learned to understand many different life perspectives. It has truly shaped me as a person and as a human being.

This is actually my first time using CS. Next year I plan to start a master’s degree in Film Studies, hopefully in Paris, Amsterdam, or Berlin. Until then, I just want to travel as much as I can and live as many experiences as possible.

Music, Movies, and Books

Choosing favorites has always been a tough question for me it feels impossible to completely love something while leaving everything else behind.

I listen to all kinds of music. I grew up with hip-hop and reggaeton, but at some point I opened a door that led me to every genre imaginable. My taste really depends on the moment of my life. I enjoy jazz jams, rock concerts, or losing myself at a good techno festival.

For movies, you can check out my https://letterboxd.com/miguel_acena/ I think it represents my film preferences quite well.

As for books, I usually read essays more than novels, but Demian by Hermann Hesse has always stayed with me.
