Overview
About Me
Hi there! Miguel here!
I'm a 24-year old portuguese guy with a bachelor's degree in computer engineering, who's been working as a software developer in a small company since 2013.
I'm not a big sports fan, but I do love cycling. When I'm on a bike, it feels like I don't get tired (I'm out of shape right now, so take that with a pinch of salt, please).
I keep to myself at first, but if I feel comfortable with a person I'm very talkative.
I think a lot. About a lot of different things. So I may sometimes say something that seems strange, or jump from one topic to another seemingly at random. Everything's connected in my mind. Even I sometimes lose my own train of thought.
I'm a fan of martial arts, and have practiced kickboxing. I only know the basics, though.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
When I started working, I was forced to move to another city. And I started meeting people. Most of them were foreign. And in doing so I started being exposed to their culture and way of thinking, living, even being.
And it started rubbing off on me. I started getting curious about what's out there; up until then, I was never a big fan of traveling. I lived all my life in the same small town, surrounded by the same old people. After meeting people from all over the globe (seriously, Brazil, Colombia, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Greece, Georgia, India, Finland, Russia, even Japan), I realized how little I knew, and how much different the rest of the world can be.
So here I am. Right now I can't host, but my flatmate who owns the place hosts on occasion; we have a wall filled with mementos of people who stayed here.
When I get the chance, someday, I hope I can give back to the community. Mi casa es su casa.
Interests
Let me see if I can sum up my interests without it getting confusing:
I'm a techie, first and foremost. I love technology, of all shapes and sizes, and one of my future dream jobs would be to be able to develop prosthetics for disabled people, war veterans, etc.
I like singing. I go to karaoke sometimes. I'm also very competent at making voices and sounds. Don't know what that means? It means I could pretend to be a waterbike so well that I managed to fool someone sitting next to me.
I like acting. I've been on stage a few couple of times, and it's such a great sensation, to entertain others. This ties back to what I say about singing, voices, and sounds. My second dream job would be to do voice acting, either a movie, a cartoon, or a videogame.

Music, Movies, and Books
Of music, I can say I love soundtracks. More than any other genre I enjoy, soundtracks click with me, with my heart and soul. I also enjoy DnB (jungle, more specifically), rock, a bit of hip hop and rap, and probably others I'm not remembering right now.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I haven't done anything amazing. Yet. But that can, and will, change.
Teach, Learn, Share
I work as a software developer, so anything logic related, I'm your guy. I also love sayings and expressions: they offer so much insight into a culture.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Since I'm new to all this, I don't really know what I can share with my hosts. I can, however, say that I'm polite and well-manered, and try not to be a nuisance as much as possible. You'll barely know I'm there.
