About Me

Hi!
I'm Mika and currently I am a full time traveller.
I was born in London, grew up in Poland with a Polish mom and an American dad.
I studied cultural anthropology in the Netherlands as it is my passion to discover and learn about new cultures and meeting people.
I have been an english teacher in a primary school in Italy and now I am an online tutor.
This is my second gap year, I will be going back to my studies next year, so I want to use my time now to the fullest.
My passions on the side are cinematography, I have been raised in a film family so I can hold conversations about that for hours. Music, I can bond over every type. Surfing, climbing, you name it I will be up to try it. And I am a really good cook, who knows how to use spices.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Meeting people, sharing cultural experiences, opening a door to someone new is the reason I live for. I am here to learn from others and since I am addicted to travelling, as well as always on a budget and being a nomad couchsurfing is the perfect place to comibne all that.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love parodies like Airplane! or Life of brian. Beatiful coloristic movies like Suspiria or Night on Earth. Definetly film about girls who feel lost at times in their 20s like me ... Frances Ha, Shiva Baby, or Watermelon Woman. And just cinematographic geniuses like Snatch or Spirited Away. I could go on like that for hours...
As for music I am into all, hip hop, indie, punk, blues, jazz, drumnbass, jungle, soul.
And books as well it is such a broad topic, but because of my interest for travelling I enjoy deeping my knowledge by reading reportages about the place I'm going to. I really enjoy graphic novels as well. Or contemporary fiction like "My Brilliant Friend".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Drop out of university to travel the world.
Trully the most amazing decision I could have ever taken.
And no, it doesn't mean I won't finish my studies. But I needed a break and I had the guts to take it.
I have never met such amazing people, I have never stepped out of my comfort zone, I hvae never learned so much about life as I do every day now by solo travelling.
And I have never been so humbled :))

Teach, Learn, Share

There is nothing more valuable than sharing our points of view of the world, how we see it and understand it. That is how a human learns, creates his mindset and broadens the horizons which leads to less ignorance. I can share my experiences as an international raised girl in a eastern european country and would love to hear other sides of the sotry. Feelings, situations..
There are some hidden talents which are worth discovering if we dicide to meet each other (can't reveal everything at once).
And I laugh at my own jokes so you're welcome to join:))

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have many stories to share, and same goes both ways, many sotries to listen to.
I can take you climbing and give some tips.
I know english grammar perfectly if you are interedt in that haha, or just conversations in the three languges I posted, never end the practise!
I can cook for you, you can cook for me and learn about our hidden recipes.
I love communal spaces like this where we can depend on each other and the exchange is never a one way deal. I take as much as I give.
