About Me

Hi guy and gals !

Mikael here, Belgian dude from 267.

I've been travelling for the last 6 years now and I don't think I will ever really give up travelling.

I am very open-minded and easy-going.

I am an arborist for living but also like to do rock climbing and actually most of the "extreme sports". I also like to do big hikes all around the world.
I am into permaculture, medicinal plants and mushrooms. I m looking for a place where I could build my earthship and live off the grid.

There s one important thing you need to know about me, some times I am a big party boy, some times I am the most quiet guy you have ever met. But it s not because i am quiet that I feel uncomfortable. On the contrary, usually when I don t say anything I am happy.
Most of the times i am a very silent person and i feel comfortable if i don t have to talk all the time and when i can just be thinking/dreaming.

"How can you respect someone's words if you don't respect his silence"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is a really really good way to get connected with people all around the globe.

It is very easy to meet people who think the same as yourself or who have the same interests.

Also, It's a good way to help each other out. Looking for accomodation, for events or other activities is much more easy thanks to CS.

Tree and rock climbing, and actually all kind of outdoor extreme sports.

I love to be outside in the nature for sport, relaxing, meditation or for "bushparties" :D

I also really enjoy a nice and busy, cultural city. As long as it's moving, it is fine.

I really like everything about homesteading and survival, from building my own sustainable house to permaculture and edible/medicinal plants and mushrooms.

My biggest wish right now is to be completely self-sufficient and I would like to meet more people who think like me so I can learn from them.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Psytrance, Goa minimal, Progressive, ... Punk rock, Ska punk, ... Hiphop, ... a bit of everything really. It all depends from my mood and the company with who I am.

Movies: La belle verte (The beautifull green one), Soylent green, Idiocracy, The harder they come, V for Vendetta, ... and much much more !

Books: Don t touch this book, Plants of God, 1984,...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Amazing is a big word... I have done a lot of good things that I really enjoyed, like big walks, festivals, climbing massive trees, ...

Maybe the most amazing this is that I love my job. I think that's pretty amazing as most people spent most of their live working and don't enjoy what they are doing. That must be really miserable...

Teach, Learn, Share

Some people are so poor, the only thing they have is money.

A tourist don't know where he went, a traveller don't know where he's going.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I really enjoy cooking. I am not really good at it, but I enjoy it, so if you want, I can always cook for you.

Oh, after eating quite a lot of meat for most of my life, i actually realized I don't really need it, so I am vegeterian now. But you will see, there are heaps of things to replace your steak and it really not going to be a boring meal ! :D
