I am an American born in Japan but raised in Texas. But Zimbabwe was my favourite place to live! I lived there for about two years. I lived in Pittsburgh, PA for four years while getting a degree in Civil Engineering. Now I am exploring jobs and countries as I try to find something that fits me and my busy mind! I have worked as a wildlands firefighter in the States during the summers to help make money and experience nature at the same time!

I am a friendly open person with lots of experiences that I love to share. My multitude of hobbies keeps me busy and allows me to meet a wide variety of people - and luckily I get along with just about everyone!

Unfortunately, I'm usually traveling or living out of gov barracks (while firefighting), so I'm unable to host.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on couch surfing to make travelling easier while having the added benefit of living like a local and meeting some locals. It also will give me a friend in the city I happen to be in!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I did a 5 month course called Quest Africa where my group got called out to fight many bush fires along the properties that bordered the conservancy we stayed on.
Fighting a bush fire is like nothing I had ever experienced before! One moment we would be sitting on the dirt chatting, watching the smoke in the distance and the next a sound like a massive storm would hit us and the fire would spring up. We would gather at the edges of the firebreak and beat any sparks that threatened to cross over. And in minutes the grass will have burned and the fire will have moved on.
We would chase it down the breaks until it was controlled or entirely put out. If you care to hear more you can ask about getting stuck on another property surrounded by fire or the time 5 of us spent a whole 12 hours fighting fires!
