ABOUT ME

Hello! My name is Misha. I am a conservation fishery biologist and a photographer.

I am passionate about environmental and sustainability issues. I work with government, private and nonprofit groups to sustain threatened fish populations and their habitats. I am also an environmental portrait (www.mihaelblikshteyn.com) and stock (www.stocksy.com/mikblik) photographer.

I am fortunate to have traveled quite a bit internationally and excited about future travels. In the US, my life journey has taken me from New York to Alaska to northern California to Oregon and now Washington.

I was born in Russia and came to the U.S. when I was 14, bringing with me a Russian desert tortoise in a cake box. Almost 25 years later, my tortoise is still with me! I grew up in New York City, but escaped to Southeast Alaska after college for graduate work, and my stay there stretched for almost 10 years. It's a place like no other. Although I spend most of my time on the west coast, my heart remains in Southeast Alaska and I make annual trips there.
