Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The idea to discover a country like a local as part of the shared economy is a revolution in the times of tourist agencies offering trips which are planned until the last second of your day. Locals seeing these tourist behave differently, and it somehow changes or damages the culture. Why?
Package tourists don't see the real face of a region - they see what they expect to see and what is most profitable for the locals.
