About Me

I was born in England, but spent a lot of my younger years in Buenos Aires. Grew very attached to Northern England during my adolescence in Yorkshire. Then I spent 4 years in Edinburgh for University. I've managed to fit in a fairly decent amount of travel between all of that, most recently finding myself in Argentina and a few other spots in South America.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It's a great way to meet genuine locals, and potentially (hopefully!) long-lasting friends.

Interests

I have loads of interests, one of them being bizarre and dark humour. I can get passionate about politics sometimes, but feel like I need to become more well-read to be able to completely validate my thoughts on it. I'm a strong advocate for feminism, equal rights, and drug decriminalisation.

I'm also a big music lover. I've played the bass guitar since I was 16, and can play a little bit of acoustic/electric guitar too. I'm left handed but have learnt a few basic chords on a right-handed guitar since they're so much more common! I recently also played a MIDI keyboard in a sort of electronic folk band. I produce music on my laptop when possible, and do some rapping too.

Music, Movies, and Books

I started off loving Arctic Monkeys, Bloc Party and The Strokes, later falling in love with The Beatles, David Bowie and some other classics. Somewhere along the line I started listening to Raekwon, and the US and UK hiphop scenes wormed their way in there (Verb T, Premo, Jam Baxter, Jehst, Dr Syntax, Mos Def, Tribe). I also like Burial, Com Truise, Macintosh Plus, Mac DeMarco, Luis Alberto Spinetta, Sleaford Mods, and more. Sometimes I like listening to music I can zone out to (eg. Lemon Jelly), and other times I like listening to music that makes me think (eg. Braintax)

12 Angry Men is film I watched recently which I liked a lot, and La Haine is another.

My favourite book is 1984. But I really need to read more. Been stuck reading Dune for the past 6 months. Other good ones I've read: A Brave New World, Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World, maybe there's another good book that ends in World but I can't think of it!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once I ate a sandwich which was 5 pieces of bread in between 2 other pieces of bread
