To help more than to hinder
I'm a teacher who spends his summers music festival hopping, canoeing, exploring organic/sustainable agriculture (wwoofing and the like), and conversing...or I'm a music festival/canoeing/farming enthusiast who finances these interests by teaching.
Communication. There is nothing more fundamental or essential.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Looking for couches in Australia now (intending to return the favor when I get home in September)...
Had one marvelous CS experience camping in a back yard, along with 4 other tents of travellers, during a music festival. Previously I'd heard amazing things and met some great folks through friends hosting.
Sustainability, permaculture, the outdoors, travel, community, conversation, canoeing, reading, film, music (especially live performances thereof), asking questions, sharing, revelry, empathy, life, the universe, and everything.
- outdoor activities
- scuba diving
Music, Movies, and Books
The Coen brothers ("The Dude abides"), 'I Heart Huckabees,' and Wes Anderson (especially Tenenbaums); Wilco, Arcade Fire, The National, Dylan, Radiohead, Animal Collective, LCD Soundsystem; Tom Robins, Christopher Moore, Kurt Vonnegut
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Paid off my student loan!
Teach, Learn, Share
Ideas! I've studied Western philosophy, English literature and education at university, taught high school and ESL to kindergarteners and instructed canoeing and ultimate frisbee. Looking to expand my competency and knowledge of agriculture, horticulture, viticulture and permaculture, as well as yoga, SCUBA and world history. I'd love to learn to surf and gain a more thorough understanding of economics.
