About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Let it be easy.

ABOUT ME

It's hard to describe my interests because they change so often. Really I just like talking to people about ideas of any kind. If you're interested in something, there's a good chance I can be interested in it too. I'll at least ask a few questions until I have a few thoughts of my own.

PHILOSOPHY

I've actually had to take time in my life to re-learn how to breathe. I need to make sure I don't forget again.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I want to meet people around the world. I want to stay at people's places if they are so gracious, but I would also just like to meet great people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm just getting started. Sometimes you walk in the door and your host greets you with wine and hash. Other times your host cancels because her cat just gave birth. It's an exciting way to travel. Couchsurfing is the greatest way to find out what it is like to actually live in a city and not just be a visitor. You really get a feel for people and what life is like in whatever wonderful place you are visiting.

Interests

Like I said, my attention shifts a lot. Here are some things that have gained my interest at different and sometimes concurrent times: plants, car repair, rugby, baseball, journalism, bicycling, maps, stand-up comedy, movies, The Wire, political theory and having an excellent time.

Music, Movies, and Books

Many and Varied. I love talking about movies and books, though I've watched more than I read. I'm in the early stages of a plan to read every novel on a list I found of the 1,000 greatest of all time. The last I read was "The Master and Margarita."
Ask me a question and maybe I will have a remark or two.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One time I saw a man on fire at a gas station.

Copenhagen has a feel to it - a rhythm to it like no one ever has to come to a complete stop. I loved chilling there, being there, and of course, visiting Christiania.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can talk about the bureaucratic mess that is being a public school teacher in Chicago. I've written about local government for a newspaper. I can talk about what it feels like to be a lost, young American and the feeling I get there versus the other places I've been.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Puerto Rico, Spain, Switzerland, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
