I'm a human male from Ottawa, Canada. I currently live in South Korea.

I'm an independent traveler, but if you can spare the time please take me exploring. Show me the nooks and crannies and cobwebs of your city, the ups and downs, the good and bad! Take me down dark alleys and into hidden corners, mountains and parks that tourists never see! (Or at least provide a good map.)

I am relaxed and easy going. I love hiking and being outdoors, whether in a park or in the city. I like walking down unknown streets and people watching from cafe terraces. I can spend a whole afternoon in a coffee shop with a good book. I like getting lost in a new city and finding my way out again, poking my nose into strange shops, antique markets, and bookstores. I like old things and strange things, and museums.

I'm a non-smoker and allergic to cats.

Because each person is living a life as vivid and complex as my own—populated with their own fears, ambitions, friends, routines, worries and craziness—an epic story that continues invisibly around me like an anthill sprawling deep underground, with elaborate passageways to thousands of other lives that I’ll never know existed, in which I might appear only once, as an extra smoking a cigarette in the background, as a blur of passerby crossing the street, as a lighted window at dusk, and I want to touch as much of that as I can.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Surfed all over Europe in the fall/winter of 2010-2011, met some great and memorable people, and overall had a great experience. It's been awhile since I surfed but I'm beginning to travel again this year (2015-2016) with some trips in East/SouthEast Asia.

T. Pynchon, H. Murakami, J.Borges top the list as far as books go, but it's hard to name them all. Literature, Fantasy, SciFi, Fairy tales, etc. I like the films of Miyazaki Hayao, Christopher Nolan, and Woody Allen. I'm not picky about my music, I usually avoid top 40 pop songs though. Mars Volta, Brand New, Coheed and Cambria, Jeff Buckley, MF Doom (and all his other personalities), Wu Tang, Kendrick Lamar, 10 ft Ganja Plant, Do Make Say Think, all come to mind.
