ABOUT ME

I usually go by Mikey. I'm laid back more than anything else, but I do like to keep in touch with my inner five year old, so when I get excited I turn into a little kid. I also put a lot of effort into being as optimistic as possible; I look for the positive point in every situation.

PHILOSOPHY

I have a philosophical love of water. It's a bit difficult to explain, but I want to model myself after something that is necessary for life, is patient and powerful enough to create the grand canyon, and adapts to any given circumstance.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Only surfing at the moment. We're interested in hosting in the future, but we have roommates we need to talk to about it, and to be honest we're at least a half-hour drive from anything interesting so I'm not sure how much value we'd have as a host.

Music, Movies, and Books

The music I listen to is eclectic. The only types of music I tend to avoid are country and polka; odd considering I grew up in the Wisconsin countryside.

My favorite movies are Boondock Saints and Fight Club, but I love comedies, action movies, and kung fu movies.

My favorite book series is the Wheel of Time, I highly recommend it to anyone with even a passing interest in fantasy. I enjoy fantasy books more than anything else, I think because I read to take a break from reality.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My wife and I took our honeymoon in Roatan (an island off the coast of Honduras). It was the first time out of the country for both of us, and we spent the time enjoying local food/drink and finding little adventures to go on. I can't decide whether my favorite part was the jungle canopy zip-line, or swimming with dolphins.

Teach, Learn, Share

I enjoy cooking/baking. I never went to school, but I may be able to coach you in breaking an egg with one hand or separating the egg white without an egg white separator, things like that. I've also tinkered with computers for most of my life. I'm no certified expert, but I can give you tips for using Microsoft word or excel, and problem solve basic computer problems.
