Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
So far I have surfed in Costa Rica and Salt Lake City. I hosted one surfer at my old house in Long Beach. Both experiences were positive and fun. I am looking forward to the next adventure!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My first stay was in Liberia, Costa Rica. My host, Max, was great. Showed me around town and introduced me to some of his many friends.
My first guest was Janina Bartels from Germany by way of ALbuquerque NM, USA and her friend Katie. She was a great guest and my roommates, girlfriend and I all had a lot of fun showing them around the LA area.
Interests
My primary interests right now are related to creating both the lifestyle I would like to have and helping create a better more free world.
Secondarily to that I explore the issues facing our global society and attempt to create workable solutions. Several documentaries or books I have found in particularly exciting, interesting or helpful are Food Inc. and Michael Pollan's In Defense of Food, The Future We Will Create and Jacque Fresco's The Best That Money Can't Buy, and The Cartel which explores how America's school system is failing and what to do about it. There are many others, feel free to ask me about them.
Third is my interest in reading and writing hard science fiction literature. Science fiction in particularly works by Asimov, Heinlein, Niven and to a lesser extent Clarke, and Orson Scott Card greatly influenced me to take a broader world view and opened my eyes to human nature in a way that no other genre really can. So profoundly has this influenced me that I strive to write something even half so profound.

Music, Movies, and Books
There are many great films out there but a few of my favorites are Gladiator, The Count of Monte Christo, Old School, Garden State, Groundhog Day, Enemy at the Gates, Equilibrium and many more.
I listen to so much music and work in the business. If I had to choose only one piece as an all time favorite it would be Beethoven's ninth symphony because of it's amazing portrayal of the human condition and triumphant finale. But mostly I listen to indie rock and experimental pop such as everything Danger Mouse does, Little Dragon, Radiohead, Muse, The Mars Volta, Band of Horses, Bright Eyes, The Black Keys and of course many more.
Books...Books more than any other media are our glimpse into the thoughts and lives of others. They take us on far greater journeys than movies ever can and form memories that last a lifetime. I am always reading something and usually am reading a novel or two and some nonfiction piece. Right now I am reading a not-so-good science fiction novel called Star Dragon about a photovoric animal and an amazing exploration of how law is stifling American society called The Death Of Common Sense by Phillip K Howard. I highly recommend thus book to any aspiring lawyers, politicians, economists, or sociologists both for it's insight to the problems with hyperregulation and the motivations behind the problems.
