My name is Mikhil and I am 18 years old, looking to travel India with a rucksack and hardly any cash.

I would like to say that I am somewhat of a Globetrotter, unfortunately stuck in the shackles of Western Civilisation; where working until you drop, materialism and competition is seen as holy. Being stuck in this constant cycle of routine, I have decided that it is time to try something new. What else other than to travel, meeting great people around the clock?

Both of my parents are East African Indians, born and brought up in Kenya. Despite being East African Indians, alongside having moved to the UK, they still cannot get enough of India, their patriotism has never died, which in turn, has been passed on to me. They had an experience to live in India, alongside a very similar country - Kenya. I however have been brought up in the UK and have only had a glimpse of places around the world. Not only do I have an emotional connection to India, but also a very spiritual one; hence, why I want to travel India, learning, not only more about the country, but also, more about myself.

As mentioned in the 'About Me' section; I am a British Born Indian and I feel almost inclined to learn about my culture in it's purest form, how it is back at home. I have been to India 4 times (having fallen in love with it the first time), however, it has been more of a tourist holiday, rather than finding the culture... my Gujarati culture, that I really want to embrace and learn about.

The reason I am couch surfing is so that I can meet great people during my time in India. My aim is to solo travel India and make contacts, engage with people and learn new things. I want the weird and the wonderful to happen in India. Trying to find someone that has the same passions as me; particularly in Hinduism (all dharma), Travelling, Food etc is essentially what I want to be able to do when travelling with couch surf. Hopefully I'll meet families and hosts that will soon become just like my family, creating everlasting friendships with everlasting experiences.
