About Me
Hi! I’m Milad, 23, currently on a gap year from my Master in International Communication. I love traveling and discovering new places and cultures. I’ve always been curious and open-minded, even if I can be a bit introverted at first, I usually open up quickly when meeting new people.
I’ve had some amazing experiences already: I worked for six months in the US, moving around California, Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona, and Texas. That’s when I realized how much I love traveling and exploring. Before that, I'd only done smaller trips in France and Spain with friends (mostly during summer breaks), and later I started solo travel in Europe places like Majorca, Poland, Portugal, learning to plan less and go with the flow while still keeping a general plan (to have a safety backup).
I enjoy meeting new people, sharing stories, and learning from different cultures, but I also appreciate some alone time to explore a city or just relax. I do street workout and running (even though I have asthma ...) , and I’m always up for new activities.
Overall, I’d say I’m curious, flexible, and social when I want to be, and I love the balance between adventure, learning, and just enjoying the moment.
PS : I have this habit of taking video shots of everything I find interesting, so I can make a travel montage video as a souvenir.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I discovered Couchsurfing through a friend I met in a hostel, and it immediately clicked with me. He introduced me to the app and connected me with someone in Turkey, Ibrahim, for my very first Couchsurfing experience. Despite coming from different cultures, ages, and backgrounds, the connection was incredible. It was nothing like I imagined; everything went so smoothly that I thought.
For me, it’s not just about saving money, it’s about authentic experiences, kindness, and making real connections. Meeting locals, sharing stories, and learning from each other is what excites me the most. I’m already looking forward to my next Couchsurfing adventure and hope to host in the future as well.
Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to a bit of everything, it really depends on my mood. When I study, I enjoy classical piano. When I’m out or partying, I like energetic techno or dance music. Running? Something upbeat. Relaxing at home? Music just to chill or dance. French Rap with thoughtful lyrics is great for drawing or evening vibes. Sometimes, when I’m feeling emotional, I listen to love songs.
For movies, I enjoy both classics and lighter comedies, but I’m drawn to films with beautiful colors, stories, or vibes, I’m also into vlogs and cinematic storytelling rather than big blockbuster fame.
For books, The Four Agreements had a big impact on me early on it opened my mind in many ways. I also enjoy fantasy, personal development, and occasionally I used to read manga, though less now.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
It’s hard to pick just one, since I have little adventures all the time. But if I had to choose a recent big one, it would be leaving my Master in France to work in the US for six months. I would say, my first big solo adventure that sparked my love for traveling.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can share knowledge about French cuisine, video editing, and computer skills, I even built my own PC. I’m also very hands-on and enjoy practical, manual things like DIY or small repairs. I love learning from others too, and every situation is an opportunity to exchange skills and stories.
